Regarding the relocation of the U.S. Army's Futenma Air Base in Okinawa Prefecture to Henoko, Nago City, Governor Tamaki clarified that it would be difficult to approve the work by the 27th, saying that it is necessary to analyze the opinions of prefectural residents and academics in order to ensure the stable operation of the prefectural government.

Off the coast of Henoko, Nago City, where Futenma Air Station is relocated, soft ground was found on the site to be reclaimed, and the national government applied for a design change to carry out ground improvement work, but the construction has not progressed because the prefecture has rejected it.

Okinawa Prefecture is obliged to approve construction according to national instructions, and the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has recommended to Governor Tamaki to approve the construction by the 27th.

In an interview with reporters at the prefectural office, Governor Tamaki stated that "various opinions have been received from prefectural residents and administrative law scholars, and it is necessary to analyze these opinions in order to ensure the stable operation of the prefectural government," and clarified that he would reply to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism that it would be difficult to approve the proposal by the 27th.

In response to this, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is expected to instruct approval with a new deadline in the near future.

If the prefectural government does not approve the instructions, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism can file a lawsuit with the High Court.

If the court approves the appeal, it will issue a judgment ordering the prefecture to approve it, and if the prefecture does not approve it even after receiving the order, the national government can approve it on behalf of the prefecture.
